***Due to the cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette, along with Purdue breaching our agreement to allow us to use a course they had approved last fall 2009 and further confirmed as recently as July, we will announce a new course within the Greater Lafayette area in the near future. Several Greater Lafayette Area communities have approached us about hosting the event and we are evaluating each of those opportunities. We have also received an outpouring of support from runners locally, regionally and throughout the country and so we couldn't be more inspired about this event - one of 15 nationwide USRA Half Marathon Series (USRAHM.com) in 2010 which will expand to an estimated 30 cities in 2011.

USRA HALF MARATHON RACE SERIES

The USRA Half Marathon Series (usrahm.com) is a 18-city nationwide Half Marathon Series in mid-to-small size markets. Each Series event partners with the Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and/or Municipality in that community to conduct a Half Marathon, 5K, Fun and Runner's Expo/Packet Pickup. All events create a festive, fun atmosphere with live music, post race party and quality shirts (tech to Half Marathoners), medals (to Half Marathon finishers)and disposable chip timing among its many amenities. A "points" system will be introduced soon to incentivize runners running multiple series events.

At least 3-5 additional Half Marathons are pending for the 2010 season and Series owner Reinke Sports Group anticipates as many as 20-25 Series events in 2011! Further information can be obtained from USRA, Reinke Sports Group, 1531 Dale Ave., Winter Park, 32789, usrahm.com.

If you are not participating, we’d still love you to be a Volunteer and be part of the fun! All volunteers receive a T-Shirt, goodie bag and entry into the Post Race Party on Sunday or Post Race Party on Saturday!
